PETHÖ SÁNDOR (1916 – 1992)
Sándor was born in 1916 in Hungary (now part of Yugoslavia) and grew up in a culturally rich environment, developing an interest in the arts and music. He graduated in medicine in 1943, specializing in gynecology and obstetrics.
During World War II, he fled Hungary and worked in refugee camps, where he began developing Calatonia, a gentle touch technique to alleviate pain and stress. After the war, he treated war-traumatized patients in Germany before migrating to Brazil in 1949.
In Brazil, he became a renowned Jungian psychotherapist, integrating Calatonia into his therapeutic method. Sándor lived a simple and private life, dedicating himself to Jungian studies and nature at his ranch in Minas Gerais.
In 1991, he predicted his own passing and died naturally in 1992, leaving behind a legacy of admiration and respect.

The Calatonia International Training (CIT) was developed by alumni of the Instituto Sedes Sapientiae, where Pethö Sándor taught his method for many years.
Having studied directly under Sándor through multiple courses, our group is committed to promoting his work according to the standards and principles he established.

Anita Ribeiro Blanchard
Anita has organised and facilitated numerous workshops and lectures on Calatonia and Subtle Touch training, in the USA, England, Portugal, Norway, and Brazil. She is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist by the British Psychological Society (HCPC registered in the UK), a Licensed Psychotherapist (USA), and a Clinical Psychologist (PUC-SP/Brazil). She obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Barcelona, and her doctoral research was on childhood trauma and its lifelong impact.

John Hofton
John Hofton has a background in music and language arts. He holds a Professional Sound Healer Practitioner Diploma from the Wheater Sound Academy, a Reiki Master Certificate, and also Master Practitioner of Urban Mysticism (Vedic Mantra by Ken and Elizabeth Mellor, 1989). He holds regular Sound Healing groups in the North West of England, and has been running regular Sacred Dance, Sacred Sound retreats at Trigonos, North Wales, since 2006.
Leda Maria Perillo Seixas
Clinical Psychologist, specialist trained in the Subtle Touch Psychophysical Integration method, at the Sedes Sapientiae Institute, Master’s in Jungian psychology (PUC/SP), and PhD candidate (2020) in Religious Sciences at PUC/SP. Founder and editor of Hermes, an online indexed journal for Jungian, somatic and integrative studies. She currently coordinates, supervises and teaches at the ‘Body in Psychotherapy’ programme of the professional psychologist course at PUC/SP. She has also led trainings in the US, Portugal and Brazil, since 2005.
Maria Irene Crespo Gonçalves
Clinical Psychologist (USP), specialist trained in Psychomotricity at the Sedes Sapientiae Institute, specialist trained in Couples Therapy at the J. L. Moreno Institute, and a member of the International Society for Sandplay Therapy ISST. Irene has led regular workshops and trainings on Sándor’s psychophysical integration, for children and adults, at Rosa de Nazaré Retreat, since 2005.
Marie-Céline Lorthiois
Pedagogue, Master’s in Educational Psychology (PUC/SP), specialist trained in the Subtle Touch Psychophysical Integration method, at the Sedes Sapientiae Institute, and international Circle Dance facilitator. Céline is the creator of an integrative method named Deep Pedagogy, which integrates the body/soma and the psychology of Jung in educational settings. She has written profusely about this method, and has organised and led regular trainings since 2004.
Vivian Farah Nassif
Occupational Therapist (USP), specialist trained in the Subtle Touch Psychophysical Integration method, at the Sedes Sapientiae Institute, certified therapist in the Meir Schneider’s Self-Healing method by the San Francisco School for Self-Healing. She is an instructor of integrative methods and coordinator of the Palliative Care Programme at Syrian-Lebanese Hospital in Sao Paulo.

Psychiatrist, Jungian Psychotherapist specialising in body-based techniques, Sociologist, Master’s in Social Anthropology (USP), specialist in Analytical Psychology and the body-based approach. Paulo is the coordinator of the ‘Jung & the Body’ programme at the Sedes Sapientiae Institute, in which he also lectures.

Psychologist, Master’s in clinical psychology, PhD in Developmental Psychology and post-doctorate in Social Psychology from the Institute of Psychology at USP, scientific researcher at the Health Institute of the State Health Department of São Paulo, and specialist trained in the Subtle Touch Psychophysical Integration method, at the Sedes Sapientiae Institute. Sandra has structured and taught several trainings in Calatonia & Subtle Touch and is a leading professional in research on this subject.
